Imaging the World – Consortium for Health

Through funding from the Philips Foundation, ITWA successfully started up and ultrasound training entity that is currently accommodated at the Women’s hospital of the Bannabikira Sisters of Bwanda at Kyengera on the outskirts of Kampala city. The institution currently serves as a training arm of ITWA and is also envisioned as a long-term income generating entity for the organization.  The official opening of the institution was conducted in April with representation from key stakeholders and funders including representatives from Ministry of Health Uganda, Allied Health Professionals Council, Philips Health Care (Peja East Africa), Civil society, Community leaders among others. The institution has been accredited as a CPD offering entity and has so far passed out over 100 health professionals of different medical backgrounds.  Efforts to have the entity accredited as a Diploma offering institution are in their final stages.
