WHO Resolution on Strengthening Diagnostics Capacity

In a groundbreaking move towards advancing equal access to healthcare, the World Health Organisation (during the 76th World Health Assembly in May 2023) has passed a resolution on strengthening diagnostics capacity.

This means that all UN countries of the world have signed on to strengthening diagnosis using imaging, helping to address the challenges related to access, affordability and quality of diagnostic testing.

Critically, many countries will need organizations like Imaging The World to best integrate appropriate and affordable diagnostic imaging into their national health service strategic plans.

Diagnostics play a pivotal role in moving to a world of universal healthcare, enabling early detection, accurate diagnosis and timely treatment of conditions, within pre-natal care and way beyond to a host of other diseases. Access to quality diagnostics is vital - all individuals, regardless of where they live or what they earn, should be able to receive appropriate and affordable care. Diagnostic testing helps care providers detect issues ahead of time and plan the next steps of care for the patient. This resolution helps to address these challenges and improve diagnostics capacity worldwide.
