At our recent visit to Nawanyago Health Centre III, the ITW team introduced a new way to explain ultrasound scan results to patients, their families, and other healthcare providers. In the past, it was clear that scan results were not always understood since they were written in English only.
Illustrations of the various fetal and placental positions printed on small stickers were placed on the scan reports to provide a visual representation of important scan results for those who do not read or speak English. Additionally, a symbol was also provided to indicate whether the patient was safe to deliver in the village or had a finding that necessitated deliver at a health center or hospital. Everyone was very receptive to the stickers and appreciative of the efforts made to increase understanding.
