I visited our first pilot site at Nawanyago, now running the ITW program in a financially sustainable fashion. With ultrasound services on site, utilization continues to improve following completion of the study (see PLOS ONE publication
) with record numbers of ANC’s and deliveries. Last month, six women were transferred for c-section for complications based on ultrasound findings – 4 with hemorrhage from placenta previa – and all mothers and babies survived! These outcomes further underscore the importance of ultrasound as part of an integrated antenatal care solution at rural lower level healthcare facilities.
